Celebrating 25 years of WiGS! Memories of the first conference in 1988

On Saturday, 22nd October, 1988, WiGS had its inaugural meeting at the University of Reading. Organised by founder of WiGS, Professor Helen Watanabe, the meeting was attended by an astonishing 60 Germanists. One of the delegates at that first meeting was Dr Winifred Davies, now Reader in German at Aberystwyth University.
