The WIGS committee felt so honoured to read the entries for this year’s Book Prize and Postgraduate Essay Prize competitions. They were all really inspiring and challenging. After much deliberation, the Book Prize was awarded to Iga Nowicz and the Essay Prize to Judith Lebiez. Iga’s prize for her book proposal, which is entitled ‘Multilingual Practices and Transnational Alliances: German-Language Texts of Post-Yugloslav Migration’, was awarded by Laurel Plapp, Chief Commissioning Editor at Peter Lang, sponsor of the prize, at the 30th WIGS annual conference in Aston. Judith’s essay is entitled ‘Thinking the Death Drive Beyond Death in Der fliegende Holländer‘. Congratulations to Iga and Judith and to all the entrants!
